Color Gel
A color gel is a thin sheet of transparent colored material that is placed in front of a lighting fixture. Gels are typically used in theatre, photography, cinematography, and videography. The purpose of the color gel is to diffuse light, color correct, or create a specific type of lighting to communicate a mood by coloring the light a particular way.Brightly colored gels have to be replaced frequently due to fading or even melting under the intense heat of the light. Permanent solutions like dichroic filters can be used in permanent situations and theatre uses.
