Commissioned Screenplay
A commissioned screenplay is written by a writer hired specifically for the creation of a script based off an existing concept. The concept is not the original idea of the writer, but of the studio- based off of an event, book, or other source. Generally, a number of hired writers will undertake writing a version of the script before the final version is chosen.
