Copyright Law
Copyright law is the license of absolute ownership of invisible ideas after they have been put into material form. This guarantees that as music, poetry, fiction, etc, is put on paper, it is the property of the person who created it. Policy in the United States gives the creator ownership automatically, it is not necessary to apply or register for an official copyright. The need for copyright law came about after the invention of the printing press. Many publishers would require artists to hand over ownership of their work for a royalty-which was rarely paid at first. The U.S. saw its first copyright law established in 1790.
