Falsetto

The falsetto is a term given to identify a specific register of voice. This register is able to reach a pitch at the end of the range of frequency right above the common frequency of speaking or singing. This technique is achieved when the rim of the vocal folds reverberate. The sound produced is typically airy and pure.

Falsetto is commonly confused with singing with your head voice.  The following video illustrates the subtle difference.
