MPEG
MPEG, or the Motion Picture Experts Group, is a collection of individuals associated with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). This group is responsible for coming up with and issuing guidelines for different areas of technology. Specifically, MPEG deals with the formats used by television broadcasts, online video and audio, and DVDs. MPEG issues their standards by number, although the numerical order is not important, and include such guidelines as MPEG-1 and MPEG- 4.
