Multimedia
Multimedia is a term that describes the amalgamation of several types of media content. Any combination of text, video, animation, or photography is considered multimedia. Multimedia is typically presented on computers or other electronic display equipment, but can also be utilized during a live performance. There are two types of multimedia categories: non-linear (allows for interactivity, as in a video game) and linear (no user control). The word multimedia was first used in 1966 to describe a performance combining music and visuals, but has encompassed numerous meanings until the present definition was adopted in the 1990s. Today, multimedia is used in almost every industry that employs technology.
