Pulse code modulation
PCM, or pulse code modulation, is the process of digitizing analog signals through a sampling technique. More specifically, PCM samples an analog signal 8000 times per second, with each sample depicted as 8 bits, totaling 64 Kbps.PCM can also refer to music audio playback of CDs via a digital method.
