Subtitles

Subtitles are a presentation of the dialogue of a TV show or film that are displayed at the bottom of the screen in written format. Subtitles are used for both language translation and to aid the deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals. For a detailed look at how subtitles are utilized, see the entry for closed captioning.
