Telestrator

The telestrator, invented by Leonard Reiffel, was first used by its creator in the 1950s. The device, which allows the user to draw on a stationary or moving video image, was first utilized by Reiffel on a set of shows about science for public television. The telestrator is commonly used for sports programming or weather newscasts. Early versions of the tool required the user to write on a television screen using a light pen. Today, telestrators are operated via a tablet or touch screen. John Madden made good use of the telestrator during his many football commentaries.
