Sounds crazy, right? Well it is. So crazy it just might work.
Casey Pugh, a former employee of Boxee and Vimeo had the brilliant idea of remaking the original Star Wars movie by breaking it up into 15 second clips (472 of them) and then allowing anyone and everyone to participate. The project is called Star Was Uncut. Each person or group was allowed to claim up to 3 scenes. The film is now completed and ready to hit the film festival circuit.
Pugh maintained the audio from the original film to lend a bit of cohesiveness to the project. While I’m sure the end result of so many different hands in the pot is disjointed at best, I cannot wait to check this out. Sounds like a lot of fun.
If you are interested in taking part in this type of project, Pugh says he intends to do the same for The Empire Strikes Back in the near future.
